Everything You Need To Know About Fat Freeze

Let me start by saying that I’m a huge advocate of living a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Going to the gym, eating healthy, getting my dose of antioxidants and a few minutes of meditation are some of the things I look forward to every day. While most of us do our bit, we tend to develop “pinchable” body fat  as we get older, especially around the midsection. Some of us develop this post pregnancy while some of us are more susceptible to abdominal fat. If you need to get rid of the same, I suggest you get to know a little bit more about Fat Freeze.

What Is Fat Freeze?

CoolSculpting or cryolipolysis is one of the first non-invasive procedures (after liposuction) that helps get rid of unwanted fat, double chins and love handles.

Here is a list of body areas we can target with fat freeze:

muffin top

waist and hip

sub -scapula better known as bra bulge

upper arms

inside of the knees

sides of the body, under the buttocks

This procedure is ideal for fat loss where it’s rather difficult (and a longer process) to lose inches through diet and exercise. At my clinic, ISAAC Luxe, we make the most of CoolTech, one of the most well-known brands for fat freeze.

How CoolTech Fat Freeze Works

CoolTech consists of freezing the fat tissue while respecting the collagen and skin elasticity, and afterwards, it removes the fat cells from the body in a natural and progressive way through the lymphatic system. It is a non-invasive procedure, without the need to use needles or scalpel and pain-free.

It cools the tissue down using temperatures which oscillate from 3ºC to -8ºC, depending on the area being treated and the thickness of the fat within that area. The temperature is also reduced slowly at the start of treatment and increased again slowly towards the end of treatment. By using rounded paddles in one of four sizes, it basically suctions (your skin) and fat.

Does it hurt?

Not at all. You will feel a cooling sensation, which s comfortable and easily tolerable by most patients.

How long does it take?

It takes anywhere between 60-100 minutes. You can lie down, access your phone or even your laptop. It’s also a great time to catch up on some lost snooze time.

What happens after the treatment?

The fat cells are vulnerable to temperature changes so by freezing these, the fat cells are slowly being eliminated.  Your body will eventually metabolise the damaged fat cells and their contents.

What will I feel immediately after the treatment?

The targeted area usually looks both red and lumpy after a fat freeze session but there is no pain as such. Regarding the appearance, it takes a few days to bounce back to normal.

How many sessions do I need?

We usually recommend anywhere between 3-6 to see a visible result. Since the procedure also depends on the patient’s metabolism, it is an eventual result with up to 25-30% fat loss.

When should I get it done?

If you’re getting it done before a wedding, we suggest you get it at least 12-18 weeks prior to the big day to reap most of it. Otherwise, you can get it done anytime. Make sure your doc knows your medical history so that he/she can advise you about the same.

Fat freezing doesn’t necessarily translate to weight loss, and therefore won’t reflect on your weighing scale. When opting for CoolSculpting, you should go in with the mindset to see a gradual change in your muffin top, a lower bra bulge or a gradual change on your double chin.
