Tired eyes is another term for what is commonly known as eyestrain – when eyes feel achy, weak, or heavy due to intense use. It is not a disease, and does not require medical treatment – but it never hurts to know how to prevent it.
Tired eyes can come from any number of activities. Some of the most common include too little sleep, allergies, working on the computer for too long, poor lighting conditions, driving a car for prolonged periods of time, reading for long periods, or any other activity that may require the eyes to maintain intense focus for long periods of time.
Common signs and symptoms of eyestrain include:
Eye redness or irritation
Sensitivity to light
Back, neck, and shoulder pain
Feeling of heaviness in eyes
Here’s What You Can Do To Avoid Having Tired Eyes
- Eat Vitamin A rich foods like eggs, papaya, carrots and Vitamin C found in seasonal fruits all through the year.
- Increase you water intake: make sure you have 8-10 glasses of water. Include coconut water and seasonal fruits to stay hydrated.
- Try this exercise: Focus on that object that’s 20 feet away. Try this for about 20 seconds and feel the difference!
I hope these tips help you!
