Can BLUE LIGHT from your phones & laptops HARM YOUR SKIN? Let’s find out

Can Blue Light Our Harm Our Skin? Dr. Geetika Mittal Gupta tells you the truth

With all that time we spend on our phones ? and laptops ? , we may not fully know the impact of the blue light that is emitted from your smart screens. According to studies, it’s number 3 when it comes to skin damage, right after UVA and UVB sun rays (280 nm to 400 nm) with blue light wavelength 380 nm to 500 nm.

BLUE LIGHT CAN CAUSE PHOTO AGEING WITH TIME

Simply put, the more time you spend on your gadgets and in fluorescent lights, the more susceptible is your skin to photo ageing. While there are no immediate changes, blue light, just like sun damage can cause inflammation, redness and increase signs of ageing over a period of time.

WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT?

1. Start with the basics: limit the time you spend on your phone and laptop. Switch to night mode (it’s less brighter) and make sure you don’t sleep next to your phone. It messes up the circadian rhythm of the body leading to disturbed sleep which has a direct impact on your skin.
2. Make sure you get your fill of antioxidants with green tea, fruits, nuts, and seeds to fight oxidative damage.
3. Opt for LED facial like Dessee Pro at ISAAC Luxe that uses light energy to reverse ageing, inflammation and more.
